My name’s Jacob deCastro (he/him) and I’m a journalism and public relations student in the Media School at Indiana University.

Let’s make the world a better place through good design, sound policy and effective communications.

At IU, I’ve held a variety of roles at the Indiana Daily Student β€” an independent student newspaper. Right now, I’m focusing on leading the newsroom through a pandemic and an election as editor-in-chief.

Over the summer, I was a Brand and Content Strategy Summer Analyst for Goldman Sachs. In this role, I focused on optimizing its Office of Corporate Engagement social media channels

In the past, I’ve interned with the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Rules, NASA Glenn Research Center, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

I also served as the marketing director for the Shawnee Summer Theatre in Greene County, Indiana from fall 2017 until the end of the 2019 season.

I’m a proud member of the IU chapters of the Society for News Design, Reporters Without Borders, Public Relations Student Society of America, and NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists. I’m also a member of the Asian American Journalists Association.
